Parents’ Association School Uniform Survey

Dear Parents / Guardians,

In partnership with the school’s management the Parents’

Association would like to survey the parental body with regard

to two possible changes to the school’s uniform policy. We would

greatly appreciate if you would complete the attached survey and

return it to the class teacher by Friday the 12th of February or alternatively you can complete the survey online at www.surveymonkey.com/r/ZSVX56T.

Only one completed survey per family will be considered and we request that as many families as possible take this valuable opportunity to express their views and help to inform the decisions that will be made by school management.

  1. Polo Shirt

At present a PE polo shirt is not included in the school’s uniform policy. Most children at the junior end of the school wear a polo shirt, whilst at the senior end of the school the majority of children wear jerseys on PE days. Many parents have expressed a desire for a uniform polo shirt to be formally introduced as part of the school’s PE uniform as there may be pressure on the senior boys to wear expensive jerseys on PE days.

The management and Parents’ Association of the school would like to know would you be in favour of a generic polo shirt (e.g. single colour polo available for purchase in Dunnes, Penneys, M & S etc.) being formally included as part of the school’s uniform policy?

YES, I am in favour of a polo shirt being included in the school’s PE uniform

NO, I am not in favour of a polo shirt being included in the school’s PE uniform

If you answered yes to the question above please indicate if you would prefer to see a white or grey polo shirt being part of the school’s PE uniform.

  1. Shorts

Many pupils and parents have inquired about the possibility of the children wearing shorts to school during warm spells. Following Parents’ Association discussions with school management it was decided that parents should be surveyed for their views on this matter.

It was agreed that if school shorts were to be introduced they would not be a compulsory purchase, they would have to be green tracksuit-type shorts and could be worn with the rest of the PE uniform on all warm school days during September, May and June (not just on PE days). Old PE uniform tracksuit bottoms could be cut up and hemmed or green tracksuit shorts can be supplied by Pat O’Farrell Uniforms for €12 – €14.

YES, I am in favour of green tracksuit shorts being an optional choice for children to wear with their PE uniform tops on all warm days in September, May and June.

NO, I am not in favour of green tracksuit shorts being an optional choice for children to wear with their PE uniform tops on all warm days in September, May and June.
