Soccer Match v St. Cronan’s

St Colmcille’s vs St Cronan’s

St Colmcille’s played St Cronan’s in Swords Celtic and the match kicked off at three o’clock. A bright opening from the hosts led to Jack Doyle chipping the ball over the on rushing St Cronan’s keeper. It was pass and go for a while until a delightful Callum Newman cross was met by a powerful Sean Roughan-Curtin volley which beat the keeper. About 10 minutes later, an unfortunate pass led to St Cronan’s, Felix Santos, to score in the bottom corner. At half time St Colmcille’s held the upper hand with the score 2-1 and in the second half introduced two fresh players. Shane O’Connor came on for Callum Newman and Dylan Malloy replaced Cian Dempsey. At the start of the second half, St. Colmcille’s raced out of the blocks. A delightful Jack Doyle cross was met by Jack Tynan to head the hosts 3-1 in front. A few minutes later, a tackle to Sean Biggins presented St. Colmcille’s with a free kick which the same player curled beautifully into the top corner. Sean Biggins then made it 5-1 from the penalty spot following a handball. This soon became six, following quick thinking from Dylan Fox who rounded the keeper before rolling the ball into the empty net. Eoghan Leahy then replaced Shane O’Connor and the same player received a delightful James Doyle pass and shot into to the bottom corner. St. Cronan’s never gave up and battled until the end and were rewarded with their second goal before a richly deserved Shane O’Connor effort made it 8-2 shortly before the final whistle blew.
